Dreaming about Sex

When we dream, we are all sexually aroused. Rapid eye movement sleep (REM), a very active stage of sleep during which our body becomes paralyzed, our heart rate increases, our brain temperature rises, and we experience autonomic nervous system "storms" and irregular breathing patterns, is where most dreams occur. In addition, our penis or clitoris also becomes aroused as if all of that wasn't enough. But does this genital arousal imply that we have vietsub sex movies sex-related dreams every night? No, not always. Erotic dreams may not be as common as you think, according to a 2011 study by Calvin Kai-Ching Yu and Wai Fu titled "Sex Dreams, Wet Dreams, and Nocturnal Emissions." However, there is a wide variety of experiences, as there is with many aspects of human behavior.

Patricia Garfield, a clinical psychologist, wrote the entire book Pathway to Ecstasy about her own frequent sex-related dreams. In Mindful Dreaming, I examined the case of a young woman who developed a fear of having lucid dreams because whenever she realized she was dreaming, she would experience overwhelming sexual energy that seemed beyond her control. Other people find that sexual dreams pursue them even when they are not wanted. Erotic dream frequency and content appear to be highly individual. Dream sex is incredibly real.

Both men and women have experienced real-life orgasms as a result of dream sex. The first lucid dream orgasm was documented by psychophysiologists Walter Greenleaf and Stephen LaBerge in their research from 1983. The subject, Beverly D'Urso, used particular, pre-agreed eye movements to signal the beginning of orgasm after discovering a lover in her lucid dream. Her vaginal blood flow, vaginal muscle activity, and respiration rate all increased at the same time to their peak values for the evening. Erotic dreams and mindfulness By paying attention to our erotic dreams, we can discover more about our sexual energy, our current relationship, and our general attitude toward sex. Erotic dreams aren't always enjoyable, and some of them might even make you feel ashamed or repulsed. By remembering our dreams, recording them, and using them creatively or therapeutically for deeper insight, we can bring mindfulness to any aspect of dreaming.

We can also practice dream lucidity, which is when we become aware that we are dreaming while still in the dream. One way to become extremely aware of our unconscious erotic imagery and sexual symbolism is to become lucid in sexual dreams. As I stated in Llewellyn's Complete Book of Lucid Dreaming, "lucidity gives us the option to do dreamwork while in the dream, so that, for example, if we become aware that we are dreaming while engaging in an incestuous sexual act, we can ask the dream what this symbolises or if there is some psychological message for us... In an erotic lucid dream, we can interact with dream imagery and dream figures to change unhelpful relationship patterns, heal past trauma, and guide the dream into the erotic experience we would most like to have, instead of feeling ashamed or horrified.
